| School Description |
College of the Atlantic is a small school with a philosophy that focuses on the human relationship with the environment.
All students major in Human Ecology, but students design their own interdisciplinary major in any area of their choosing: science, the arts, education, public policy, or any other field. With this freedom comes the responsibility to take charge of your own learning and discover the complexities, depth, and excitement of your academic focus.
COA was one of the first colleges in th nation to actively promote sustainability and protection of the environment. Students can volunteer at the school's Beech Hill organic farm, helping to grow the food they will eat and the school adheres to environmentally- and socially-responsible purchasing and energy policies. |
